What we do

The project develops a new cooperation forum and coordination activities on a transnational level to strengthen the networks and positive spillovers among projects regarding energy communities. In addition, three Working Groups will be established in order to analyse existing knowledge, design and implement pilot actions in three different contexts: urban areas, rural territories and islands. Each WG will face specific challenges and will be able to identify the best way to transfer and upscale validated solutions in new areas.

🔗 Join the RECinMED Cooperation Forum
A dedicated space for exchange and collaboration:

The RECinMED Cooperation Forum is a transnational space designed to connect stakeholders, institutions, experts and local communities committed to the development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) across the Mediterranean region.

The Forum promotes dialogue, knowledge exchange and cooperation among practitioners working on citizen-led energy solutions, supporting the replication and scaling-up of successful models in urban, rural and island territories. It also serves as a platform to share experiences, foster strategic partnerships and strengthen the governance capacity of emerging and existing Energy Communities.

Through the Forum, RECinMED encourages continuous collaboration beyond the project’s lifespan, contributing to the consolidation of a sustainable Mediterranean network focused on inclusive energy transition.

ACTION PLANS

The Pilot Actions test and demonstrate innovative approaches for the creation and operation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in urban, rural and island contexts, translating RECinMED’s objectives into practical, locally adapted solutions that support inclusive, sustainable and community-driven energy transition across the Mediterranean region.

Action Plan in Island Areas

This Action Plan aims to support the establishment of solar-based Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in island contexts, contributing to the development of sustainable and community-driven energy systems.

The pilot action is implemented on the island of Šolta in cooperation with the Municipality of Šolta and the active involvement of local stakeholders, and will be supported by coordinated strategic and technical expertise provided by the project partners.

Action Plan in Rural Areas

This Action Plan aims to develop an innovative methodological guide for the creation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in rural areas, to be tested and validated through a pilot implementation in the selected area of Gavião, Portugal.

Action Plan in Urban Areas

This Action Plan aims to support the establishment of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) based on solar energy in urban contexts, contributing to more sustainable and inclusive local energy systems. The pilot action will be implemented primarily in the city of Granada, involving local stakeholders such as citizens, schools, businesses and community associations, and will be supported by coordinated strategic and technical expertise provided by the project partners.
